Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Skeleton Tree
The 2nd saddest, dreariest album I've heard this year. (the 1st being A Crow Looked at Me by Mount Eerie)
The vocals and instrumentation are very haunting, and the lyrics have a unique tone, they consistently churn up emotion even when I'm not entirely sure what they mean.
I loved it, check it out! This is the first song, "Jesus Alone"

And the rest of the album in a playlist, how convenient!

Picking up where I left off a few months ago listening to Lou Reed's discography. Currently on the album Coney Island Baby, on the fourth track, Kicks. Really enjoying the album so far, just as I did his other albums before this one. (Except Metal Machine Music, but Reed only made that to get back at RCA, who were contractually obligated to release whatever he gave them, for pushing him to make another album really fast. I can admire MMM from that standpoint, one of the earliest forms of trolling)

Will continue listening to his discography, at least until I start to not like what I'm hearing. We shall see!

I'm having a dead crush moment these days...A dead crush moment is when you realize there's a whole band you didn't really know about/factor in/understand that you suddenly focus upon and suddenly your stream is filled with bad ass music you were not expecting.  One of my first experiences with a dead crush moment was the Buzzcocks when a friend lent me Singles Going Steady in the early 2000s and damn that's a great album that just wasn't on my radar (and yea, I knew nothing of the buzzcocks).  Dead Crush moments are rare if you listen to music with an interest. You generally have an idea of most of the stuff on the radar.  That said, I kind of stopped listening to much new music around 2000 and somehow I missed LCD Soundsystem.  Not sure I would'a liked them anyway on the first go round.  However, I'm real into them these days and from their first (self titled) to their latest (two days ago) I'm enjoying the ride.  Catchy dance music for people who don't like dance music?  A hipper more fun Cure (*circa 1997)?  I'm enjoying it.

PS  yea I went through a huge crush on Nick Cave when a girl I knew had her basement flooded and I inherited her nick cave/bad seeds/birthday party vinyl collection.  WIN!

I too just started listening to LCD Soundsystem very recently. I've known about them for awhile, but never got around to listening to them. Then, I saw a review of their 3rd album "This is Happening" and decided to finally check them out, and I was not disappointed. I haven't tried out their new album yet, but I plan to very soon. I really don't like the album art, but you shouldn't judge an album by its cover.

I've had quite a lot of these dead crush moments, never heard that term before though. Bands like: Fugazi, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Swans, Talking Heads... among many others.

Been listening to a band called Nails recently. Probably the heaviest metal music I've ever heard, it is monsterous. And most of their songs are under 1 minute in length, their first two albums lasting 14 minutes and 17 minutes respectively. Their most recent album from last year clocks in at a little over 22 minutes, only because the last track on the album is over 8 minutes in length. So if you want to blow out your eardrums in the time it takes to watch a TV program, minus the commercials, then Nails is the way to go.

Fiona Apple's Sleep to Dream.
An awesome song, love the slow, yet primal drums and the bitter, yet poetic lyrics, and Fiona's amazing vocal chops too.

Daft Punk - Face to Face

Just bought Discovery on Vinyl a couple days ago.  Face to Face is probably my favorite song off the album.
