I think it may have been Ken who suggested that one of the ways we can contribute, and add value to the community, is to donate a comment on a movie.
I liked the phrase, it seemed not overwhelming.
Now I can see the movies on my tablet this might be easier to fit in timewise (I'm typing this while eating my breakfast)

Great minds Kate.  Here I am hosting tryouts for the host of the TMU COmment-A-Thon.  Second from the left got the job I think.  Hoping to push out this idea/trailer/whatever in a few more days...But keep donating those comments!

I may have missed something here but is there anything that makes "donating" a comment any different from commenting as usual? Also what is the Comment-a-thon? :P

I dont think theres anything different per say but if it feel good then you roll with it.

The commentathon was my idea for a little commercial to promote TMU being out of beta and to promote the movies that were uploaded while TMU was in beta.  I enlisted HME as a possible host Im slowly working towards possible completion.

When Ken used the word donate in relation to comments I had a shift in my thinking.
Instead of a comment being simply an interaction between two people, it could be seen as a contribution to the lifeblood of the whole site.
Also 'a comment', a unit of one, as and when time allows, rather than a feeling of obligation.

Fair enough, yeah that makes sense. If it helps get the site some more activity then I'm all for it! :) It might be better than my method - I tend to go a while without watching or commenting much, then I'll suddenly have a massive TMU binge and leave loads of really detailed comments at the same time. All helps though I guess ;)

I like the feed on the Community Page on the movie site that shows recent comments on movies - a good comment gets me interested in watching, and if you click on the comment it takes you directly to that movie.  Pretty cool feature.

Yeah I noticed that feature too, a nice touch. I often check out movies Biz has recommended so it's nice to see the most recent reviews featured right there on the home page!
