Okay, I don't know how epic it is, but I have to admit that doing almost any formatting on the new movie site has defeated me.

I just don't understand it.

When I started developing web sites 20 years ago (like this one for a MUD I was an admin on), I was writing HTML in notepad, and the coolest stuff was some animated gifs. I moved on to porn sites in the early 2000s (no, they're not archived on the Wayback Machine, sadly) put together in at-the-time Macromedia Dreamweaver.

And then I got out of it.

Didn't learn Javascript. Didn't learn CSS. Didn't learn PHP. Which leaves me ill-equipped for the modern Internet.

So, I'm going to have to hire somebody. Right now I'm looking at this dude. He has done a lot of jobs, he's been fairly successful at them, and his price is right.

I plan to do this in a modular fashion. Give him a smallish job. He does it well and fast, give him another. A lot of the things we need done will work well in that fashion. Fix something, add something, remove something. He doesn't mention any special experience in PHP, but I think most of the work is HTML/Smarty Template and maybe a little Javascript.

We'll see. Perhaps in the end I'll have to go with somebody else a little more experienced and a little more expensive. But even somebody like this would only be a little more expensive.

So that's where we're probably going to go. Start with some of the small stuff (getting rid of the unnecessary and confusing "Upload from a server" selection in the upload interface, adding a Forums button to the main interface, etc.) and if whoever I hire seems to be sharp, move on to some more major stuff.

I'll keep everyone advised on this as we move forward, and hopefully we'll all see the results.

With my brief experience on the backend, let me say it is not an intuitive system.  And if it makes you feel any better Im  having fail issues of my own with the 2015 Favorites program.  After failing the upload to TMU then  cutting it down to 2 hours and failing and then cutting it into 2 pieces and still failing I decided to upload to youtube and embed on TMU.  This is fine and dandy if you live on Christmas Island as thats the only country allowed to watch the video because of copyright issues on Joes Slayer music in Effin Me Street.  Sigh.  As a little update I exported the two part thing in WMV and it seems to be uploading ok on TMU.  Fingers crossed.

If you have any more issues with uploading Biz send it to me and I'll have a go, I should be able to convert it to MP4 which is a much smaller file size, and my internet connection is really fast so less room for it to mess up I guess :P

Yea, the weird thing is the mp4 files were not getting through.  Once I converted it to WMV it worked ok on the 2 parter...
