Hey All,

Thought it time I started a thread for my mini-comeback movie.  It's a bit late for a true Production thread, as the movie is pretty much all done.  Just need to tweak it a bit (sound levels, etc) and then click "Render."

What's the movie about?  Good question!  As the (un)title says, it's a Western Horror (and Romance) filmed entirely in ye olde The Movies.  I admit I am struggling to come up with a name for it, but I'm sure something will come to me before too long.  (Maybe I should let The Movies decide with its pre-made film titles...?)

Oh, and it's silent. Meaning, no VOs, nor subtitles.  I went with titlecards instead, trying to emulate the ancient silent film techniques, but with sound.... yeah.  Not sure why, but I think it works.  And you can be the judge when I finally release it!

Stay tuned for more details!

And as Ollie might say, Film On!

BiggsTrek.

Unfortunately, I don't have a single tumbleweed in the film.  Damn...

"Once unseen, cannot be.... seen?"

Hmmm, doesn't really roll off the tongue, does it?

You guys are the worst....  lol

If you click long enough, the titles in The Movies don't get any better.  Best I found was "Tumblewood" (just for you guys) and maybe "A Day To Forget" (for me, today!)  Then there's "Sherriff Pants", which would be nice if this had UPM in it.  But no.  Then there's "The Ghost Of Sherriff Black", which wouldn't be too bad, except my Sherriff is actually black, so it suddenly seems very racist.  So no, again.

One hybrid if coming to fore, though:  "Just West Of Justice" (assuming my town's name is "Justice", which isn't a stretch as I never named it.)

Decisions, decisions...

"Justice in your drink, sir?" (sorry, platypus, I couldn't resist )

"Prairie Dreams"?

"Dark Spurs"?

"Saddlesore"?

Ok maybe not the last one.... ;)

"High Sierra Nightmare"?

Do you got any romance in that there Horror Western?  TumbleMorningWood perhaps? Saddlesore is pretty good as well...hehe.

Just West of Justice is actually pretty solid.  Though "Just Us West of West Justice" has a certain balance.

I was thinking "Wet Justice" for the porno spinoff... but you know, that's just a Friday thing.

Bugger me; a Biggstrek movie that took less than 2 years to do? That's a record ;)

Consider me interested with a capital "I"...

Nice creative use of the stock engine. Nice transitions when the posse overcame their.... limitations, shall we say?

Nice slick editing with the interweaving of the scenes, proving once again the versatility of the engine in the hands of someone who knows how to composite a shot.

Sheriff has one "r" btw :P

Maybe you should ask for VOs, tho? On this showing, one day you may be even capable of producing a competition winning entry or two, I reckon.... you show great promise as a movies director.... ;)

It's got me all nostalgic for TM!

Proves that, even if you only use what the core install provides; you can still make a story driven piece that can stand up even without VOs, 12 years after the game was dumped unceremoniously by it's creators and, with the creative use of shots and clever editing tricks, you can still tell a good tale or two :)

OK, let's try this again.  Now with slightly better spelling (kinda important if you rely on title cards!)  Thanks again, Killian.

Warning!  This review contains spoilers.  If you have not watched the movie, you should stop right here and go do that.  I really think you should do that.  No kidding.  It is worthy way to pass the time while waiting for a 20 minute blender render to complete.

Okay, you have been warned.  Don't blame me if the whole cinematic experience is ruined by the following review.

Let me begin by saying that watching this video was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, although there were some ups and downs along the way.  The opening minutes put me in a mood and I felt like I was taking a nostalgic journey to a time before my time, when silent pictures were all there was and the tinkle of a piano provided the emotional accompaniment for what was happening on the screen.  Music was certainly an important element in the video and as the plot twisted and turned, the musical genre changed unexpectedly.  I was a little disappointed when the tinkly piano gave way to a full orchestra.  While the visuals remained those of the 20's, the music jumped forward into the 50's and beyond.  The story took some unexpected turns and while the early scenes provided some gentle chuckles, at about 9 minutes, I was, if you will pardon the expression, rolling on the floor laughing (ROTFL for folks who are in too big a hurry to type it out).

In the second half of the video, all hell broke loose as horror was piled on horror.  Near the end, however, the tinkly, soothing piano returned, and love triumphs over horror and even death itself.

Thanks for the review, Lefty.  Appreciate it!

The music:  yes, it is a bit of an odd mix.  Originally I'd thought to do it all myself (in Sony ACID), but instead I went looking in Youtube's Audio Library and came across these great little piano pieces by Esther Abrami, which I quite fell for.  When used in the film, they really worked quite splendidly.  But I needed other pieces for different sections (nothing of Esther's matched), so ended up with these more "modern" sounding tracks in the mix.  They work, but they aren't perfect, I admit.

In hindsight I should maybe have looked further for those extra tracks, rather than "settling" for the ones I used.  Oh well... :(

Thanks again for watching and giving your feedback!
