As you might have heard, I am teaming up with Jase180 to bring Jesus Christ Superstar the iClone version to a machinima theater near you - set design, costume and character design is now in process, Jase and i are synching on the script/songs. I'll keep this as my production thread for updates

Awesome. If you need any voices for the chorus, just ask.

Pre production going very well - and I am very grateful for the many talented members of the iclone community lending a hand - just a few of the pre production work that is happening right now

awesome Roman fort designed by Samulis
Kurzal designing Pilate's Hall and bedroom
JCS body performance motion captured by Keith (gnasche)
great vocal performance by an artist in Italy who has found the project and stepped in to help
great vocal performance by Keith who takes on the role of Annas

here's a sample shot of Kaiafas' hall (designed by Kurzal)

Looks great Gabe. Tell us/me more about Keith's motion capture. Does he have a mocap setup? Did he perform tasks that you described? Custom animations via mocap sounds exciting.

Hey, thebiz

I have a kinect with the ipisoft Express software: http://www.ipisoft.com/sales.php
They're having a special on the Express version until mid-April. So, in all, I spent about $400. If you already have a kinect ($140) for your x-box, though, it's really not an added expense.

The big drawback to a single-camera/kinect setup is that you can't obscure any limbs without having to do a lot of cleanup afterwards. iClone does make that cleanup easier, though.

It will be a lot easier if they can add multiple kinect support. That way you can kneel, spin, or whatever without it losing the tracking of your limbs.

There is also currently no head tracking, hand tracking or face tracking, so those have to be manually animated.

There's also a free capture program for kinect at brekel.com The main problem I had with it, though, is it was so jittery. It doesn't include any smoothing script, which has a huge effect on the results. If you can couple brekel.com with some smoothing program, it would be very good. I couldn't find any free smoothing, though.

My next movie (Stay the Course) will be made with motion capture.

- Keith
