Toggle %s Welcome

Welcome to TMUnderground

TMUnderground is a creative community of animated filmmakers, voice actors, 3D modellers and musicians.

We began as a community in July 2008, though the core members had been part of The Movies Online community for 2+ years before that. The original goal was to provide a place for members of the TMO community to release their work, collaborate, and discuss with like-minded members as The Movies Online closed. As time passed, we became a community dedicated to any engine for creating animated films, as well as the always-essential collaboration of voice actors, modellers and musicians that help the filmmaker achieve his or her vision.

Our philosophy is simple: It's not what engine you use to create your film, it's what you create with that engine.

We have filmmakers who use The Movies, iClone, Moviestorm, Muvizu, Second Life, Daz/Poser and various game engines. As new technologies emerge, we welcome a chance to see what can be created with them.

Use the navigation bar above to explore the many aspects of TMUnderground, from our forums to our movie site to TMOA, our internet radio station. We also include links to our past, including the TMO Review Archive and the complete archives of around 3000 hours of TMOA radio broadcasts.

Toggle %s Chat

Posted By:  Ken White @ 22 April 2016 - 06:49 PM

For those who were at the recent Without Words broadcast know, the TMU chat was down.

This was the last hurrah for 123FlashChat, as far as I'm concerned. Their support was, if you'll pardon the expression, shitty, and if they can't even keep their servers up, there's no point in dealing with them.

So I've shut them down and we will be moving to Addonchat. There's no IPBoard integration right now (though I'm going to be talking to ...

Toggle %s I Just Got Here

Hi All...

I stumbled across this site, I can hardly remember how.  Do you know how hard it is to find a gathering of people who have an interest in this kind of work?  Of course you do.  Glad to meet you.  I'll need a little time to get the feel of this place, and to get familiar with the collection of vids you've got here.

(I see I should've posted somewhere else, but I don't know how to delete this post...)

Toggle %s Movie site temporarily down

Posted By:  Ken White @ 29 February 2016 - 02:36 PM

In the middle of the night, they made the domain switch, from beta2.movies.tmunderground.com to movies.tmunderground.com and everything blew up.

Am working with both subhosting (our hosts) and the KVS team to rectify the issue ASAP.

Will update when I have an update.

Toggle %s Epic Fail!

Posted By:  Ken White @ 27 February 2016 - 08:48 PM

Okay, I don't know how epic it is, but I have to admit that doing almost any formatting on the new movie site has defeated me.

I just don't understand it.

When I started developing web sites 20 years ago (like this one for a MUD I was an admin on), I was writing HTML in notepad, and the cool ...

Toggle %s Live Event Notifications

Posted By:  Ken White @ 24 February 2016 - 04:47 PM

As you can see in a block on the right, we now have a signup form which will send you email notifications of upcoming Live Events on TMUnderground.

I'm still working on the form (I'd like to have the background color match the rest of the site), but it is functional (I'm subscriber number one...can't wait to hear about Live Events!!!)

This mailing list will ONLY be used for notifications of Live Event programming on our Live page - Director Retrospect ...

TMU Weekend has come to a successful close and we've had a night to dwell on it.  Let's take a moment to shoot some kudos to Ken who kept things rolling and successfully guided the entire weekend to its port.  A job very well done!

Now Its important to stay on top of the momentum but where should we focus?  What should we do?  I've got some suggestions and I would like to hear from EVERYONE as well.  If you have a thought or suggestio ...

Toggle %s A New TMU Logo Proposal

Posted By:  D.L. Watson @ 21 February 2016 - 11:54 PM

As some of you might remember, I created the TMUnderground animation that's appeared in front of many TMU films throughout the years. So I thought maybe since TMU is doing a big facelift, I thought I share a new logo idea for the forums and videos site.

As you can see, it's a little throwback to the game we all started with, but with enou ...

Toggle %s Embed capability added to movie site!

Posted By:  Ken White @ 21 February 2016 - 04:56 PM

The fine folks at KVS have whipped up the ability for us to embed our films that are on other sites!

When you go to upload, you'll see this:

The third selection is to embed from YouTube, Vimeo or whatever (I'm going to get rid of "Upload File from an Internet Location"  si ...
